Oracle Park is now open for baseball (no restrictions), but we all hope that everyone is vaccinated and covid free.
This blog post is coming to you from Kansas, where the Czar is celebrating the world of Liquor with the nation’s liquor regulators – and, yes, they consume the product. For that reason, the blog is short but there may be an update as the week goes forward and the Giants continue to battle for position in the three-team race that is the National League West. Right now, the G-Men are in 3rd place close behind the LA team and the Padres, both of whom are playing great baseball. However, the fact that the LA team got swept by the Giants over the three-game series last week may be a harbinger of things to come.
So far, the story of the early season has been injuries. The players are healing and are (including Belt, the Captain) slowly coming back from the DL and playing with intensity and purpose. The biggest surprise of the season so far has been Luis Gonzales. He’s batting over .300 and playing with the intensity that will earn him a permanent spot in the outfield (even when LaMonte Wade gets off the DL sometime this week and returns to battle for his spot in the outfield).
The pitching staff is also getting healthy (Cobb and Wood are both back, Rodon and Webb are nails and DeScalafini is due back any day). The Giants also have one of the best bullpen’s in baseball, with Doval, McGee, and Rodgers backed by a platoon of solid relievers (including Littell, Brebbia and Garcia). The Team is coming together at the right time to make a run for the top of the division. The upcoming series against the Reds (last place in the NL Central but not a team to overlook), the Tigers (4th place in the AL Central), and the White Sox (3rd place in the AL Central) are games the G-Men should have a good chance of winning and gaining ground on the Dodgers and Padres, who are playing each other at the end of the month.
By the beginning of July we expect the division race to tighten up significantly. So, enjoy these games. They are a good test of the Giants against the AL Central.
On the board ready to be picked up are:
FRI 6/24 – [7:15] Reds – 4
SUN 6/26 –[1:05] Reds – 4
WED 6/29 – [12:45] Tigers -2
SAT 7/2 – [1:05] White Sox – 4
Sun 7/3 – [1:05] White Sox - 4
Let the torture continue.
Ciao, and GO GIANTS!

THE PROTOCOL: The firm has four seats in Section 118 (Premium Lower Boxes), Rows 25 and 26. These are awesome seats directly below the press box and 25 rows behind home plate on the left side behind the screen. It is foul ball territory for left-handed batters so bring your glove – I have collected 19 foul balls myself over 22 years and am looking for more. If we don’t use all the tickets ourselves (or clients and friends of the firm don't claim them by calling me and reserving a game), then my next step is to give the tickets TO THE FIRST PERSON WHO GETS BACK TO ME PROVIDED THAT THEY ARE SERIOUS. If you ask for the tickets and don't use them, you will be taken off the list unless there is a seriously good reason. There will be a wait list.
When there are four seats available (we split up a lot of games) we will allocate the tickets two and two if the first people back just want two tickets. You can also go for four and might get them. I'm the Czar, my call.
Oh, and BTW, The Czar found the original Hinman & Carmichael brick from 2000 (after looking for it every year since 2000) and found H&C’s Gotham Club Founders Bat! If you are on the patio, or in the Club, look for the symbols of baseball!
